Listen
We are here to serve
It can sometimes be difficult to find someone to talk with. We will listen to you, and hear you. Letting you know that you are loved by God, and by people here on earth.
CCM have the practice of intently listening to someone's concerns, thoughts, and feelings with the goal of understanding their perspective and needs from a Christian viewpoint, often with the intention of offering support, encouragement, and sharing the Gospel in a compassionate way, without judgment, and prioritizing their needs over the urge to immediately respond or preach.
Key aspects of our active listening:
Non-judgmental attitude:
Approaching conversations with an open mind, accepting individuals where they are without criticizing their beliefs or lifestyle choices.
Empathy and compassion:
Trying to see the situation through the other person's eyes and responding with genuine care and understanding.
Focus on the speaker:
Giving full attention to what the person is saying, both verbally and non-verbally, avoiding distractions.
Verbal and non-verbal cues:
Using positive body language like nodding, eye contact, and appropriate facial expressions to show engagement and understanding.
Reflecting and summarizing:
Paraphrasing or summarizing what you heard to ensure accurate comprehension and show you are actively listening.
Asking open-ended questions:
Encouraging the person to share more about their thoughts and feelings by asking questions that require detailed responses.
Validating their experiences:
Acknowledging the legitimacy of their feelings and perspectives.
Responding appropriately:
Offering support, encouragement, or sharing relevant scripture based on their needs and what they have shared.
