Community-Church Partnerships

EUREKA ELEMENTARY - BRIDGE THE GAP MISSION

We have a partnership with Eureka Elementary School to help meet the needs of students who receive free or reduced lunches. We provide breakfast foods and lunch snacks to Eureka Elementary School to help bridge the gap during the school year so that these amazing students can receive the food that their bodies require to do well in school. As a friend or a member of The River at Eureka, you are part of this important ministry into our local schools! Your faithful and generous support towards The River at Eureka will ensure that this ministry, along with many other life changing ministries, will continue to have a positive impact in our community, all to God's glory!

IMAGINE NO MALARIA

GOOD NEWS: MALARIA IS 100% PREVENTABLE

Unlike many other diseases that are awaiting a cure, malaria was eliminated in the U.S. in the 1950s. However, in Sub-Saharan Africa, malaria continues to kill a child every two minutes.

But, there is hope! Imagine No Malaria is part of a global partnership and together with our partners; our generation can beat malaria once and for all. By improving the ways people fight the disease using bed nets, providing access to diagnostic tests and medicine, draining standing water, and improving sanitation we have already helped reduce malaria deaths by more than half. Imagine No Malaria combines integrated health infrastructure, education and advocacy to address death and the debilitating effects of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa.

Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship these meals to nearly 70 countries around the world. Click here to visit Feed My Starving Children's website.

The River at Eureka typically sends several groups of youth and adults to pack meals at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manchester. To find out more about these mobile packing events, click here.

The most recent meal packing event (October 2018) was very successful! Over 816,480 meals were packaged! Check out where the meals were sent by reading the thank you letter from Feed My Starving Children Team below.

Mission Trips - Adult

 2020 Mission Trip TBA

The 2018 Mission Guatemala trip to Panajachel was a great success and we appreciate all of those who volunteered their time to this wonderful mission.   We had three 'fun' days build into the trip in addition to the 5 days of working side by side with the local people on projects that contribute to their community.

For an overview of last year's work see 2016 Mission Trip.

Each member of last year's team returned with more than they gave.

"It was humbling to finally be the one giving help rather than just taking it.  Probably my biggest take away was seeing these people who have nothing compared to me and yet they always has a smile on their face!"
-- Jonathan, member of 2016 team

"For me it was understanding I was finding my source of happiness in the wrong places."
-- Corey, member of the 2016 team

Free time options such as the water park and lake activities ensure that your kids will enjoy the outdoors all week long. Windermere's outstanding facilities include various indoor and outdoor settings perfect for group Bible study or personal time with God.  Kids will be participating in a mission project each day within the community.

Proclamation Brass Band

Now in our fifth year the Proclamation Brass is a brass quintet made up of amateur brass musicians. Our mission is to share the joy of music with the church and community.

What
We play both secular and chuch brass quintet music. We play a wide variety of oldies, favorites as well as hymns.

Who
There are trumpet, horn, trombone, baritone and tuba players in our group.

Rehearsals
Schedules permitting we usually practice Mondays at 6:00 PM in the The River at Eureka choir room.

Performances
The Proclamation Brass plays at mission dinners, during services on Sundays and occasionally for community events.

How can you get involved?
The group is always looking for new members.

Contact Larry Baner at 314-753-9729 or in church on Sundays and let him know when you would like to come by and sit in on a rehearsal and see if this is something you would be interested in. We have several players who have started playing again after long pauses so don't be intimidated if you haven't played in a while. Other The River at Eureka congregation members you can talk to are Ross Malone or Kent Green.
