9,987 Miles To Go

I love to explore! For me, a pair of high quality hiking boots makes much of this exploring possible. During the past decade, a pair of (increasingly well worn) Scarpa hiking boots have been faithful companions as I pursue my passion to explore. I estimate that I have accumulated about 10,000 miles on these faithful companions. They have carried me to the top of numerous 14er's, have spent months on mission trips to Guatemala, Joplin, Colorado and numerous other mission sites. They have traveled hundreds of miles per year through the trails at Rockwood Reservation and have been on every 'Guys Jeep Trip'. But a few weeks ago, I took them on their final hike, a very familiar trail at Rockwood Reservation. These boots are utterly destroyed, they have no more miles left in them.

Last week, a new pair of Scarpa hiking boots arrived in a cardboard box with a big smile on it. I could not wait to open this box and to lace up these new hiking boots! Within a few hours, I was on the Lime Kiln Trail, exploring. These boots (pictured above) are amazing! During this first hike and the few that have followed, I have considered where these boots will take me. They will take me places that my old boots, as wonderful as they are, could not. These new hiking boots will accompany me to the Elevation Camp in Colorado in July and will retrace the steps of Jesus in the Holy Land in December. These are the boots that I intend to wear to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2020. They will be my faithful companions as I continue to explore the local trails each week at Rockwood Reservation and Greensfelder. While I have some great memories associated with the old hiking boots, I am more excited about where these new hiking boots will take me. I am looking forward to exploring new and familiar places and creating new memories. I truly believe that the best is yet to come!

In a way, our new Vision parallels the story of these boots. God has given us a new Vision, new "boots" to carry his message of love, grace, forgiveness, and healing into the world around us. God beckons us to explore new ways to follow him with the same, timeless, powerful, and redeeming message of hope found in Jesus. Our past experiences, our past miles, have prepared us for this amazing adventure that lies ahead.

Let's lace up!

Grace & Peace,

Pastor Tim

The Road to Recovery--Letting Go and Coming Clean

This Sunday we will continue our Lenten sermon series, The Road To Recovery. This Sunday we will look at the next two steps-Making Changes and Repairing Relationships.

We invite you to join us on Sunday as we praise God and remind ourselves of the promises found in Romans 12:1-2 and Ephesians 4:31-32 as we continue our journey through Lent and along the Road to Recovery.

We gather for two unique expression of worship on Sunday mornings. Our 8:30 service includes traditional hymns led by our choir and our 9:45 am service includes modern Christian music led by our praise team.

Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry meets at 9:45 am for children ages 3 years old through the 5th grade. Childcare is also available in our nursery for children two years old and under.

Maundy Thursday Worship Service, Thursday, April 18th

You and your family are invited to experience the "Last Supper" that Jesus shared with his disciples before his betrayal, arrest, trial, and death. During this unique worship service, you will be invited to the table, to hear the conversations between Jesus and his disciples as members of our congregation step into these roles for a dramatic retelling of this powerful moment in Jesus' ministry. Music from our choir and our praise team will continue to tell the story as the conversation pauses around the table.

This mid week worship and communion service begins at 6:30 pm. Childcare will be provided.

Children's Ministry News

The month of March will focus on Individuality.  Our verse for the month comes from Psalm 139:14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  We were made in the image of God, to love God and to love others in a unique way.  As we learn about individuality, we'll discover who we are meant to be.  A Parent Cue handout is available at the Parent Resource Desk, which will include the Scripture lesson for each week and ways that you can talk to your kids at home.

Eagle Lake Camp

Spots are filling up quickly for Eagle Lake Camp.  Each year, we are able to offer scholarships to families that can not afford this amazing camp.  If you are interested in sponsoring a child with a full or partial scholarship, please contact Jenny at
