The Eureka area is uniquely situated in the Meramec River Watershed. This area extends south and west along the I-44 corridor and also to the east where the Meramec River flows into the Mississippi River. All of the water originating from the springs and rainfall in this large watershed collect into creeks and streams which eventually flow and connect with the river. If you've lived in this area for just about any length of time, you have probably observed firsthand the effect that the river has along its course. Vegetation and wildlife thrive in and along the river. And at times, the river will overflow and reach far beyond its banks.
Our Vision Team was formed on January 31, 2018 and has met regularly, faithfully, and prayerfully over the past year to discern God's unique vision for Eureka UMC. This has been an amazing journey for everyone on the team, including me. The movement of the Holy Spirit has been powerful. It's through this movement of the Holy Spirit that the Vision Team was drawn to the imagery of a river. During this visioning process, we have been reminded of what this river represents in our area and also the prominence of rivers throughout the Bible. The Bible begins and ends with a river. "A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers... (Genesis 2:10) Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb." (Revelation 22:1) Even Jesus uses the imagery of a river to describe the life of a believer, "Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." (John 7:38)
So how has the Holy Spirit spoken into the Vision Team through the imagery of a river to discern this new vision for us? We can't wait to share this with you! I invite you and your family to be present on each Sunday beginning on January 27th through March 3rd as we (the Vision Team, Pastor Suzanne, and myself) share our journey and cast this amazing new vision with the members and friends of Eureka UMC through our next sermon series, Watershed: A New Vision.
Grace and peace,
Is there anything more wonderful than a group of people wearing Patriot jerseys? Just kidding! Please keep reading! We know that there are some amazing football fans connected to Eureka UMC! This Sunday, we invite you to wear your favorite sports jersey...NFL, MLB, NHL, Collegiate sports, high school, little league...whatever you have! The sermon this Sunday will include some famous words from Jesus (Matthew 28) and from legendary football coach, Vince Lombardi. Let's fill the sanctuary with sports jerseys this Sunday! All sports jerseys are welcome!
Decisions. That has been our theme for the past few weeks, a theme that continues on this Sunday. This Sunday we are going to get a little more specific; we are going to explore how we make decisions as the Church, as the Body of Christ.
We invite you to join us on Sunday as Pastor Tim preaches this final sermon in our series about "Making Decisions as a Church". Pastor Tim will be preaching from Matthew 28:16-20.
We gather for two distinct expressions of worship on Sunday mornings at our 8:30 am and 9:45 am worship services
Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry meets at 9:45 am for children ages 3 years old through the fifth grade. Childcare is available for children birth through 2 years old in our nursery during both worship service times on Sunday mornings.
*We will be celebrating the baptism of Lucas Brown during the 9:45 am worship service.
We will begin 2019 with a compelling sermon series, "Decisions: Burdens or Opportunities". We all face decisions in our lives:
"Where should I go to school?"
"Who should I marry?"
"Should I start a family?"
"What is my career path?"
"How do I care for my aging parents?"
"How do I handle end of life decisions?"
We will explore how to approach these, and other decisions, through the lens of God's Word.

It's that time of year again! And it looks like we will be receiving some snow over the weekend. We generally follow Rockwood School District regarding any weather related closures. If Rockwood closes, we will close and any activities planned at the church building will be canceled. In the event of winter weather over the weekend, any closures at Eureka UMC will be announced through our mobile app (please download and accept notifications), our Facebook page, and our website. If you feel unsafe to travel to a worship service, please stay home and consider joining us online via Facebook live at 9:45 am on any Sunday morning. As of today (Thursday), we are planning to gather for both worship services on Sunday morning. Enjoy the snow and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Purse and Coat Drive
Jan. 13 - Feb. 3, EUMC is hosting two drives for donations of gently used items —- coats and purses! Please ensure donations are in good working condition. No tears or broken zippers.
With winter upon us, look through closets and drawers for coats that are collecting dust or have been outgrown so we can get them to families who need them to stay warm! Hats, scarves and gloves will be accepted as well.
Gently used purses will go a long way towards giving dignity and support to some women who don’t own any. We don’t want moms having to use coat pockets or plastic grocery bags to carry personal items. We can do better than that!
Please place your donated items in the labeled boxes in the Commons Area at EUMC. All items will go to families in need via the St. Louis Crisis Nursery.
Holy Land Tour, December 2-11, 2019 plus optional tour to Petra, Jordan December 11-14.
In just over one year, a group of 24 youth and adults from EUMC will be heading to the Holy Land for an amazing and life transforming experience. Do you want to walk where Jesus walked? Want to see historical places of the Bible? Now is the time. EUMC is joining the Conference of United Methodist on a tour of Israel with an optional extension to Jordan. Join Group Leaders Pastor Tim and Sue Engsberg on this marvelous Holy Land Tour.
