EUMC News! (Feb 15th, 2018)

God is doing some amazing things in the lives of families through the ministries of Eureka UMC! We are truly living into the words of Jesus and the Mission of the church, "to make new disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." As more and more new families connect to Eureka UMC, let's continue to extend radical hospitality to our new guests. Please move towards the center of the pews and leave the outer (prime) seats available for our guests. Consider sitting nearer to the front of the sanctuary instead of near the back. If you are able, park your car farther from the entrance than you normally do and leave the closest parking spots for new families who are often arriving with young children. There are a lot of great new families that are connecting to Eureka UMC over the past few weeks; find someone that you do not know and take a few moments on Sunday morning to introduce them to your family.

The amazing impact that we are having on the new families, our amazing members, and indeed our community would not be possible without you. God is certainly at work and doing the heavy lifting and "we are co-workers in God’s service" (1 Cor 3:9); building His Kingdom as lives are transformed by the renewing Spirit of God's love and grace. Thank you for all that you are doing to invite and welcome new families into a relationship with Christ through the ministries of this wonderful church!

Grace and peace,
Pastor Tim

Why would we celebrate Palm Sunday on the first Sunday of Lent? Because Holy Week is a sacred time for Christians everywhere; but the week passes by so quickly that we don’t have the time to reflect deeply on what it means. Instead of cramming our reflection time into one schedule-packed week of special services, we are going to slow down and spend the entire season of Lent on the events that took place during Holy Week. The Gospel of Mark will be our guide during this wonderful, day by day journey with Jesus, during this season of Lent. We will begin our Lenten journey this Sunday by exploring the events surrounding Palm Sunday with a message titled "What Kind of King is Jesus?" from Mark 11:1-11.

We offer three worship experiences on Sundays!

Our 9:45 am worship service includes modern Christian music led by our amazing praise team.

9:45 am Worship songs:

Let it Rise
Blessed be Your Name
My Savior My God

If you are travelling or staying at home with flu, you can join us online at 9:45 am. This service will be streaming live via our Eureka United Methodist Church Facebook page and Facebook Live.

Our 8:30 am worship service includes traditional Christian hymns led by our wonderful choir.

8:30 am hymns:

163 Ask Ye What Great Things I Know
78 Hosanna Loud Hosannas
666 Shalom to You

Childcare (birth through 2 years old) is available during both worship services.

Our JAM (Jesus and Me) Children's Ministry, ages 3 years old through the 5th grade, meet each Sunday at 9:45 am

Our XP3 Youth (grades 6-12) meet on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

Flood Recovery Update: next mission Sat 10 March.  Contact me if you want to help repair our flooded neighbors houses. Last month we helped George, a retiree, who has been flooded out twice in the last two years. Five of us turned out to put up wainscoating, patch and finish dry wall and run some new electric wires. George fortunately had flood insurance but he needed help renovating the house he and his wife lived in for a couple of decades. Larry (314) 753-9729

feed my starving children mana pack.png

EUMC pack dates in 2018 will be Wednesday October 10 through Sunday, October 14

This Lenten season we challenge you to work as a family to save starving children’s lives!

You will be supporting the Feed My Starving Children 2018 MobilePack. Pack #1810-094AU

Feed My Starving Children is a Christian non-profit organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children. The meals are shipped to food distribution partners who distribute them to children in greatest need around the world.

For more information please go to

How Your Family Can Help Feed A Hungry Child

1. Place a bowl, jar, or fun container on your kitchen table.
2. At every meal each family member places a quarter in the bowl. Each quarter provides more than one full meal for a child!
3. Continue to do this throughout Lent.
4. At Easter - count your quarters and write a check to Feed My Starving Children Pack #1810-094AU
5. Celebrate the fact that YOU helped save many children’s lives!
6. At $2.00 per day for the 40 days of Lent (total $80) your family will provide enough meals to feed one child for a full year.

Questions about this event may be directed to Patty Stevens at Thank you!

Have a fantastic week and

we look forward to seeing you on Sunday Morning!
